Enigma Spyder II
Ladies' watches, unfortunately, don’t get the attention they deserve.
It seems to be assumed that women are fine with shoddily designed timepieces devoid of soul. Of course, this is nonsense — there’s no reason whatsoever that a lady’s watch should be any less considered than a man’s!
Gianni Bulgari, awatch designer and third-generation member of the famed Greek-Italian jewelry dynasty, clearly doesn't feel this way. In 1989, following the sale of his stake in the Bulgari company to his family, he established a new watchmaking firm called GB Enigma in Switzerland to design compelling timepieces with unusual designs.
This particular Enigma, a Spyder II, is emblematic of the firm's bold design philosophy: Housed in a 20mm stainless steel case with a blue cabochon crown and a sapphire crystal, it features a smoothbezel and elongated lugs for a spectacular look, plus a beautiful, silvered guilloché dial with trapezoidal indices and a blued steel handset. The dial design, with its spiraling guilloche was said to be inspired by the aesthetic of a spider web.
Powered by a hardy quartz movement and paired to a leather strap with a signed steel pin buckle, this elegant dress watch also ships with its inner and outer boxes. For someone on the hunt for a glitzy timepiece to accompany an elegant night at a soirée orgala, it's an ideal choice.
